Strategic Priorities
ACCM (UK) works to promote action to bring about positive social change to enhance the wellbeing and to protect the dignity of girls and women locally, nationally and internationally.
Our strategic priorities revolve around:
- Empowering communities to enhance their physical, mental, and social well-being, regardless of age, background, origin, sexuality, culture, religion, or socio-economic status. Education and skills development are integral components of our programs.
- We also address and work to change attitudes to eradicate harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage (FM), honor-based violence (HBV), and domestic violence (DV), which predominantly target girls and women but also affect male victims. This project spans across the UK and internationally.
- Our overarching aspiration is to tackle health inequalities by guiding individuals toward appropriate service providers and creating a 'Hub' that facilitates social prescribing. In 2013, ACCM(UK) assumed the additional responsibility of managing the Cauldwell Community Centre, ensuring its quality of usable space and promoting activities that meet the local needs of the most vulnerable.
